“Dov’è il vostro Sud?” ho chiesto a Maroezka. “Quale sud?” mi ha risposto guardandosi attorno. Possiamo viaggiare obliqui, pendendo a destra, a sinistra, avanti, indietro ed incerti rimanere in bilico. Oppure in verticale, sfidando ostinazione e il vento dei punti cardinali. Qui era meglio stare orizzontali, come i procreatori, i negligenti che vogliono rimanere a riposo nelle smagliature, nelle increspature del presente. Era possibile solo abitare le circostanze, gli incroci tra il visibile e l’invisibile, la provvisorietà delle connessioni che ci chiedono trascendenza. Così, senza un sistema sovra-determinato e senza determinarne alcuno, siamo andati alla deriva tra Tamboerskloof e Gardens, Bo-Kaap e Foreshore, le Township, Woodstock, Muizenberg, Kalk Bay, Fishhoek,Waterfront dirottandoci a Simonstown, Clifton e Camps Bay, tanto a est fino a Cape Point, quanto a ovest lungo la west Coast. “Un museo non è un museo se non può essere visitato da tutti” ci ha detto Massimo quando siamo arrivati a Cape Town. Incontrare l’altro è stato questo esercizio di cambiamento reciproco. Loro nella libertà di costruire le condizioni di un incontro inatteso e libero, noi di fare ora di quella nostalgia la rincorsa per un salto nel Blu*.

Il non definito. Realizzato in Sudafrica nel luglio 2018 in un viaggio a 4 mani. Progetto realizzato quasi interamente con iPhone (ritratti con macchina digitale). I testi di Simone Azzoni sono stati scritti a mano su ogni copia e tradotti su un foglio color pesca che accompagna la zine.

“Where is your South?” I asked Maroezka. “Which south?” She replied, looking around. ...for them, it was about the freedom to build the conditions of an unexpected and free encounter. And for us, it was about turning that nostalgia into a race towards a leap into the Blue*.

Blue is the subjective vision of a South Africa contaminated by diversity. Blue as what is seen in Channel B of an image. The undefined. Made in South Africa in July 2018 on a four-handed trip. Project made almost entirely with iPhone (portraits with digital camera). Simone Azzoni's texts are hand-written by himself on each copy and translated on a peach-colored sheet that accompanies the zine. Finished printing in May 2019.
